Yeah, it was in my Eagle. I think the combination of freezing temps and high revving of the engine is what led to it snapping. It seemed relatively new compared to all the other belts on the engine. Thankfully it went out just as I pulled out of that hill and I was able to get home on battery. I'm pretty sure that street has yet to see a snow plow.

Alright, wen t out to take another look at the eagle today, on my way to the grocery store. Got a better look at what I'd be getting into now that the snow was all off her, and to be honest, it's not nearly as good as i would have hoped.

as you can see, there is rather significant wear to the original tonnue cover, and it will need to be replaced or removed. I'd probably just remove and refinish the metal and paint, replacing those covers can get real expensive, as I found out on my 1969 Lincoln restoration project. There also appears to be bowing in the panel, which gives me concerns about the viability of the steel that's left...

Heavy damage to the rear window seal with a half-assed repair that most likely just made the problem worse! That rear window is gonna have to be removed which would be a thorny problem as I doubt I can find a replacement if it were to break, esp since it's got the rear defogger option, and who knows if that works any longer! Also, see the water damage to the shelf back there? The sedans are pretty rare, would I even be able to find a replacement? I suppose I could fab one, but I'd rather not go to the effort if i don't have to.... Also, is that mold!?!?!?!?!?!

After seeing the wear up top, I've got some very real concerns about what lies underneath. This may be a bust for me, ladies and gents. If the underbody is in decent shape, I'll still prolly grab it up, assuming I can get the car for less then his asking price which is beginning to seem a bit steep.

AMiCable.motorist If it was me I would remove the vinyl top & paint. The bad thing with the vinyl is it will retain water in the channels around the window & the metal in between the rear window & trunk lid & rot it out. I had to replace lots of steel in those spots on my 70 Goat.

No sir, this one is right on the north shore, Pittsburgh. Same asking price, however. I'm certain I can find a better one for the price, but like I said, I'll try and negotiate with him a bit, if my feelings are right about this, this car is gonna be a project and a half by the time it's done.

Yeah, that's what I'd do. I already paid 1600 clams once to fix the same problem on a 69 continental about 5 years ago, and I can't justify spending that much on a car will be a daily driver and is going to go off-road! Now, how did you go about removing the rear window? Piano wire and suction cups? I just would like to know what I'd be getting into there before I buy, you know?

That's one way.  As rear windows rarely break I would think you should have a pretty good chance of finding a used one if you break yours, although once again you'd have to be careful removing and transporting that one.  Make sure you remove the wires connected to the defrost grid on the window first and tape them up out of the way to prevent damage on removal.

Thanks for the tips, guys. What about headliners? I've seen you guys saying that they are hard to come by.... I have a plan involving making a wire frame with vinyl from a local crafts store to make my own. If I have to do a lot of work on the car I may just go without a headboard at all, remove the carpet as well and just put down rhino liner. I know I'll be removing the plastic trim from the outside and roughing up what's left of the paint, primer blacking the whole thing and a undercoating consisting of spray on liner around all those fabulous rustable parts.... at least for now. So, I'll prolly try to trade/sell/give the trim to some deserving member here.

Someday I may take and repaint her, but it would still be black. I simply can't abide any other color. Well, maybe that lovely Tan/creamish color that my first sedan had. That was pretty sharp looking.

2 & 4 door Concords shared the same headliner as 2 and 4 door Eagles.  There are some year to year differences and color does matter as to year to year differences.  Let me know your color interior and year and I can get you in the fitment ball park.

OK just thinking  Huh Could you cut down a eagle wagon headliner to fit a 4 door. The front and sides would be the same . you would only need to trim the back. I think it could be done. what do you think?

Have you ever talked to the guy selling this vehicle on the phone?  I know, silly question...but I was e-mailing a guy about a vehicle just like this one and he gave me a phone number, but everytime I tried to call no answer/no machine.  Told me the price was firm, inspection ran out in Dec. '09.  Gave me some address out by the Stadiums.  I sent him another e-mail and axed for his phone number again and he just replied contact me thru e-mail.  At that point I just stopped because it almost seemed like it was a fake ad or something...lol. I'll have to look on my computer, I might still have the picture he sent me saved
